SUMMARY:
The Nutrition Site Coordinator operates Iona’s congregate dining site (typically open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday through Friday). The Nutrition Site Coordinator functions as a site host who creates a vibrant and welcoming space for program participants: DC residents age 60+. The Nutrition Site Coordinator reports to the Nutritionist. The Nutrition Site Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the implementation of the wellness programs, ensuring the welcome/registration table has the necessary forms and fliers, and overseeing the daily lunch service. They are dedicated to excellence in food safety and food service.
Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight:
- Manage daily operations of Iona’s congregate dining site to ensure efficient and welcoming meal service.
- Oversee meal preparation logistics, including set-up, receiving food from vendor, serving, and clean-up on a daily basis
- Monitor daily attendance and assist participants in reserving meals for the upcoming week.
- Submit weekly reports to the Ward Nutritionist, including meal counts, attendance records, and supply requests.
- Complete intake forms for new participants and submit documentation to the Data Coordinator.
- Conduct initial and annual nutrition screenings and intakes for all eligible participants.
Program and Participant Engagement:
- Collaborate regularly with the Recreation Aide to exchange program ideas, address challenges, and support high-quality wellness programming.
- Lead group engagement, facilitate discussions, and deliver announcements in the absence of the Recreation Aide.
- Distribute menus, activity calendars, and informational handouts to participants as needed.
- Communicate participant feedback, concerns, or complaints regarding programs, services, or meals to the Nutritionist for follow-up.
- Complete reassurance calls to check in on seniors who have not recently attended the site, ensured their well-being and reported any identified needs or concerns to social services coordinator.
Health and Safety:
- Serve meals and ensure clients receive proper food based on their needs.
- Coordinate with Nutritionist to accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special nutrition requirements.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment by following Lead Agency procedures, including daily opening, closing, and hygiene protocols.
- Supervise and support the thorough clean-up of the dining area to ensure a safe and welcoming space.
- Compliance and Certification:
- Adhere to DACL Standards and Guidelines for Community Dining.
- Maintain ServSafe, CPR, and first aid certifications.
- Attend all staff meetings, various training, and certification sessions as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1+ years of related work experience
- Strong relationship building and collaboration skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to complete or renew annual CPR, first aid and ServSafe certificates.
- Able to regularly lift, carry and maneuver 25+ lbs.
