Operate and monitor CNC mills and lathes in a climate-controlled, high-production environment. You will load and unload parts, perform precision inspections, and work from blueprints while potentially overseeing multiple machines in a robot cell structure. Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC mills and lathes, including Doosan and Okuma machines, in a production environment.
  • Run both CNC mills and CNC lathes, following established processes and setup parameters.
  • Load and unload parts from machines throughout the shift, repeatedly lifting 15+ pounds safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor machine operations and make basic adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Perform inspections on parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints or engineering drawings with detailed specifications.
  • Maintain quality standards by checking dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes on produced parts.
  • Work within a robot cell structure, operating and overseeing multiple machines at a time as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating equipment and handling materials.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with company housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors about production issues, quality concerns, or equipment needs.
  • Document production activities and inspection results as required by company processes.
  • Progress through CNC operator levels (C, B, A) by developing skills in offsets and machine setups as opportunities arise.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of machine operating experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.
  • Hands-on experience operating CNC machines, specifically mills and lathes.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 15+ pounds throughout the shift while loading and unloading parts.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools, including micrometers and calipers, to inspect parts.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or drawings with specifications and tolerances.
  • Experience working with or operating Doosan and Okuma CNC machines.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining processes.
  • Ability to work within a robot cell structure and oversee multiple machines at a time.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks safely and accurately.
  • Reliable work habits and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a CNC machine operator at different skill levels, from entry-level "button pusher" to advanced setup technician.
  • Ability to make machine offsets (Level B) and perform full machine setups (Level A).
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
  • Willingness to work any of the available shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) based on business needs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and communicate quality or process issues.
  • Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Interest in continuous learning and skill development, including progressing to higher CNC operator levels.

Work Environment

Work in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on CNC machining. The environment includes modern CNC mills and lathes, robot cell structures, and precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers. Shifts run Monday through Friday for 1st shift (6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.) and 2nd shift (2:15 p.m.–10:45 p.m.), with 3rd shift operating Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m.–6:15 a.m. Shift premiums are offered, with an additional $1 for 2nd shift and $2 for 3rd shift, applied when the majority of the hours are worked on an off shift. The facility promotes a small-town, team-oriented atmosphere with a large-company backing, offers a "mini gas station" vending area, free coffee, and provides company shirts and hoodies as part of the attire. Operators progress through three defined CNC levels (C, B, A), reflecting increasing responsibility from basic operation to making offsets and performing full setups, within a structured and supportive production environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Deerfield, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
