Position Overview
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the overall leadership and daily operations of the nursing department. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and outstanding clinical outcomes.
The DON works closely with the Administrator and interdisciplinary leadership team to build a culture focused on clinical excellence, accountability, teamwork, and compassion.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and inspire the entire nursing team, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.

Drive exceptional resident care while maintaining the highest clinical standards.

Ensure compliance with CMS, State, and Federal Regulations.

Lead Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.

Oversee staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention, and employee engagement.

Coach, mentor, and develop future nurse leaders.

Partner with physicians, therapists, department leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve excellent resident outcomes.

Monitor infection prevention, survey readiness, and regulatory compliance.

Analyze clinical metrics and implement quality improvement initiatives.

Manage departmental budgets, supplies, and nursing operations.

Address resident and family concerns with professionalism, compassion, and urgency.

Foster a workplace culture built on respect, teamwork, accountability, and excellence.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
-
Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
-
3–5 years of nursing leadership experience, preferably in Skilled Nursing or Long-Term Care
