Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Derivatives Associate Attorney to join the Capital Markets practice of a prestigious global law firm in New York. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a Chambers-recognized team representing commercial and investment banks, hedge funds, private equity funds, registered investment companies, and corporate clients in sophisticated financing and derivatives transactions.
The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of law firm experience with a strong background in derivatives, structured finance, or capital markets transactions and will enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with direct client interaction.
Responsibilities
- Advise commercial and investment banks, hedge funds, private equity funds, registered investment companies, and corporate clients on financing and derivatives transactions.
- Draft and negotiate financing documents for complex transaction structures and bespoke financing arrangements.
- Manage client relationships and independently drive transactions from inception through closing.
- Provide strategic legal advice on derivatives and capital markets matters involving sophisticated financial products.
- Collaborate closely with partners and attorneys across the Capital Markets practice on high-profile domestic and cross-border transactions.
- Deliver practical, business-oriented legal solutions while maintaining exceptional client service.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- 4–6 years of law firm experience in derivatives, structured finance, capital markets, or related financial transactions.
- Outstanding drafting, analytical, research, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Active membership in the New York State Bar and in good standing.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $310,000 – $390,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
