- Own Windows Server production operations (day one), providing hands-on support for mission-critical applications hosted in government cloud (AWS GovCloud).
- Administer, troubleshoot, patch, harden, and recover Windows Server systems to maintain availability.
- Take ownership of Kubernetes environment (EKS), operating and troubleshooting production workloads independently.
- Lead incident response activities, conducting root-cause analysis across Windows, cloud, and container platforms.
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable cloud architectures across Windows and Linux systems, either independently or leading small teams.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible to automate environment provisioning and configuration.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps automation aligned with industry standards.
- Design and implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system availability and performance.
- Enforce security best practices, including identity management and system hardening for federal environments.
- Produce technical documentation, runbooks, and SOPs; mentor junior and mid-level engineers; provide technical leadership in DevOps practices.
Requirements
- Strong, current experience with Windows Server operations — including support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and patching.
- Hands-on expertise in Kubernetes (EKS), capable of independent operation and troubleshooting in a production environment.
- At least 10 years of relevant IT/engineering experience, with 3+ years supporting cloud engineering environments.
- Experience with AWS GovCloud.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; Master’s may substitute for experience.
- Ability to work independently in complex, secure environments with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust (or higher) clearance; active clearance preferred.
- Willingness and ability to participate in a production on-call rotation.
- Preferred skills include PowerShell scripting, Microsoft/Windows certifications, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes security, and experience with FISMA, NIST, and FedRAMP frameworks. Cloud certifications like AWS DevOps Engineer are a plus.
- Additional familiarity with PKI, identity services, scripting in Python and Bash, and supporting large enterprise systems is advantageous.
