Position Title: Construction Project Management Intern
Position Summary: The Construction Project Management Intern will gain real-world exposure to active construction projects while learning how project teams plan, coordinate, and deliver successful outcomes. Each intern’s experience may vary depending on project needs, but all will have opportunities to observe and contribute to both field operations and project management activities.
Potential Experiences: During the internship, students may:
- Shadow Project Engineers to learn how RFIs, submittals, and change orders are prepared, reviewed, and tracked.
- Participate in project scheduling updates, helping track milestones and progress.
- Join site walks with Assistant Superintendents to observe daily operations, logistics, and coordination of subcontractors.
- Gain exposure to safety practices and compliance monitoring on an active jobsite.
- Assist with quality control observations and documentation of field work.
- Observe and support subcontractor meetings, owner meetings, and internal project discussions.
- Learn how construction teams use tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and scheduling software to manage workflow.
- Support preparation of project reports, presentations, and updates for clients and internal teams.
- Experience the process of material coordination, site logistics, and trade management alongside project staff.
- Contribute to final project closeout tasks, such as gathering as-built drawings or reviewing punch list items.
Qualifications:
- Current student pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- Strong interest in learning about construction project management and field supervision.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); exposure to Procore, Bluebeam, or scheduling software is a plus.
- Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn in both an office and jobsite environment.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of the internship, interns will:·
- Gain firsthand knowledge of the construction lifecycle, from planning through closeout.
- Understand how field operations and project management work together for successful delivery.
- Build professional skills in teamwork, communication, and technical problem-solving.
- Strengthen readiness for entry-level roles in construction management.
Compensation & Duration:
- Internship may be paid (hourly rate of $27.00) or for academic credit, depending on school requirements.
- Duration: 8–12 weeks, with flexible start and end dates aligned to academic schedules.
- Work schedule: Full-time preferred during summer; part-time may be available during academic semesters
