TITLE: Adult Day Services (ADS) Specialist

SUMMARY:
As the ADS Specialist, you will be responsible for facilitating the program's scheduled activities and assisting participants with their needs. Assistance required includes scheduled activities, activities of daily living (ADLs) such as toileting and showering, and completion of required agency documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for facilitating activity groups as scheduled and for getting participants to and from assigned activities.
- Responsible for performing personal care, including toileting and showers as needed, housekeeping, and dietary responsibilities.
- Ensure shift duties are completed, and service quality is maintained in accordance with Active Generations standards.
- Responsible for maintaining participant records, including monthly charting and incident reporting.
- Responsible for assisting with participants’ nutritional needs while at Day Break, staff are to be aware of each participant's dietary restrictions.
- Collaborate with the management team to assess participant needs and contribute to care plans.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding participant changes and concerns.
- Demonstrate respect, dignity, and confidentiality for all participants and staff.
- Adherent to professional boundaries and service excellence standards
- Participate in professional development through staff meetings, in-services, and relevant educational opportunities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- CNA is not required, but is a perk.
- First Aid and CPR Certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Experience working with older adults or adults with physical or cognitive impairments is preferred. Creative and detail-oriented, with strong communication and organizational skills. Collaborative and team-focused. Willing to learn and take initiative. Comfortable receiving feedback and revising work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and move throughout program areas.
- Ability to safely assist participants with activities of daily living (ADLs), including toileting, showering, transfers, and mobility support.
- Ability to lift, transfer, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices as needed.
- Ability to complete documentation and operate computers or tablets, requiring fine motor skills and visual focus.
- Ability to communicate effectively, observe participant safety and behavior, and respond appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
This position is in person and involves frequent interaction with individuals with varying physical and cognitive support needs. Regular exposure to personal care tasks and bodily fluids; appropriate training and personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided. Fast-paced, team-oriented setting requiring attention to participant safety, dignity, and quality of care, with moderate noise and frequent interruptions. Participation in staff meetings, training, and professional development is expected; schedules may be adjusted based on program or staffing needs.

Reports to: ADS Program Manager, or Sr. ADS Operations Manager.
