The Speech Rehab Specialist provides specialized administrative support for the Speech Device Consultant. Works collaboratively with other members of the department to proactively address both patient and organizational needs. Serves as a liaison for patients, clinics, office, and Speech Pathologist.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to understand and implement departmental policies and procedures. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members and department heads. Knowledge and understanding of typical computer systems, tools and programs. Ability to work in a team environment. Knowledge of insurance. Ability to communicate with medical facilities. EMR experience.
Responsibilities
- Receives and responds to specialized correspondence following generally established procedures with limited managerial oversight.
- Process medical orders by obtaining proper documentation from medical facilities/entities, submitting documentation to insurance companies, and completing order process through company EMR.
- Knowledgeable about speech generating device, accessories, and applications offered.
- Troubleshoots IT issues with speech generating device.
- Answers telephones, takes messages, refers calls, and frequently resolves general and more complex caller needs (within established guidelines) without managerial oversight.
- Provides work direction to other departmental clerical staff.
- Works closely with departmental management on special projects, and in many cases takes a lead role.
- Schedules meetings as directed, to include room reservation, material preparation, and food service if needed.

Requirements:
Must currently live in, or plan to move to (at your own expense) a reasonable commuting distance to Flowood, MS.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills. Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Must love helping people of all ages. High level of attention to detail. Able to manage multiple priorities and close the loop when interrupted. Must be able to pass background requirements and drug screenings. Must have valid driver’s license with proof of clean driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.Ability to stoop, bend over, kneel, sit, or stand for extended periods of times as needed to meet customer’s needs. Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee is required to sit and stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
