We have an outstanding career opportunity for an Commercial Chiller Technician to join a leading Company located in the Washington, DC.

Salary: $100,000 - $124,800


Heavy Commercial Chiller Technician at Journeyman or Master level to install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and overhaul large-capacity commercial and industrial chiller systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in high-tonnage chillers and hold Universal EPA refrigeration certification to ensure safe and compliant handling of refrigerants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and service large commercial and industrial chiller systems
  • Perform major mechanical overhauls on compressors, heat exchangers, and associated components
  • Diagnose complex electrical, refrigeration, and control system issues
  • Conduct performance testing, oil and refrigerant analysis, and system optimization
  • Work with Building Automation and BMS control systems
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Provide guidance and training to junior technicians
  • Maintain detailed service records and inspection reports
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulations
  • Respond to emergency service calls and critical system failures

Required Qualifications

  • Journeyman HVAC/Refrigeration license preferred
  • Master HVAC/Refrigeration license preferred
  • Universal EPA Section 608 Certification
  • 5+ years experience servicing heavy commercial or industrial chillers
  • Proven experience with centrifugal, screw, and large-tonnage chiller systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical controls, VFDs, and automation
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Skills

  • Factory training on major chiller brands (Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, etc.)
  • Experience with PLC and BMS integration
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Field-based work at commercial and industrial facilities
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces
  • Must be available for on-call and emergency response
