We have an outstanding career opportunity for an Commercial Chiller Technician to join a leading Company located in the Washington, DC.
Salary: $100,000 - $124,800
Heavy Commercial Chiller Technician at Journeyman or Master level to install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and overhaul large-capacity commercial and industrial chiller systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in high-tonnage chillers and hold Universal EPA refrigeration certification to ensure safe and compliant handling of refrigerants.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and service large commercial and industrial chiller systems
- Perform major mechanical overhauls on compressors, heat exchangers, and associated components
- Diagnose complex electrical, refrigeration, and control system issues
- Conduct performance testing, oil and refrigerant analysis, and system optimization
- Work with Building Automation and BMS control systems
- Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Provide guidance and training to junior technicians
- Maintain detailed service records and inspection reports
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulations
- Respond to emergency service calls and critical system failures
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman HVAC/Refrigeration license preferred
- Master HVAC/Refrigeration license preferred
- Universal EPA Section 608 Certification
- 5+ years experience servicing heavy commercial or industrial chillers
- Proven experience with centrifugal, screw, and large-tonnage chiller systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical controls, VFDs, and automation
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Skills
- Factory training on major chiller brands (Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, etc.)
- Experience with PLC and BMS integration
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Field-based work at commercial and industrial facilities
- Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces
- Must be available for on-call and emergency response
