Job DescriptionSalary:

The Automation Superintendent will oversee the instrumentation and automation functions supporting CEC Energys oilfield operations, refineries, and industrial automation projects. This role requires technical expertise, leadership, and strong project management skills to ensure operational efficiency, financial success, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled instrumentation, and automation support across regional facilities.
  • Lead daily operations, ensuring smooth execution of automation and electrical processes.
  • Supervise and mentor technical staff.
  • Manage concurrent projects, ensuring financial targets and quality standards are met.
  • Create, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Review plans, specifications, and estimates for automation projects.
  • Identify and eliminate inefficiencies, waste, and service inconsistencies.
  • Monitor and reduce operating expenses through innovative cost-control measures.
  • Oversee and achieve annual financial targets.
  • Enforce CECs corporate safety standards and ensure compliance across all operations.
  • Acquire and manage client relationships, ensuring satisfaction of existing and future customers.
  • Coordinate technical work across electrical and automation control operations.
  • Lead long-term planning and participate in strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee program and project planning, development, and implementation.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support to resolve customer or project issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Automation, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 710 years of experience in automation roles within oilfield, industrial, or refinery environments.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of automation systems, instrumentation, and industrial controls.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and achieve targets.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Valid drivers license.

Work Environment

  • Based in Midland, TX with frequent field visits to operational sites.
  • Must be available for after-hours and weekend support when necessary.
