**This position is currently part-time and is expected to transition to full-time status in July 2026. Applicants must be able to commit to full-time hours at that time.**

The Facility Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and functional office and residential shelter environments. This position performs custodial work, general maintenance, light repairs, grounds keeping, and coordination with vendors, suppliers, and utilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
GENERAL MAINTENANCE:
* Frequently monitor the physical condition of DVSC facilities. Make arrangements for or attend to the necessary repairs as assigned by the supervisor.
* Maintain the safety and efficient functioning of the facility.
* Accept, pick up, and deliver non-monetary donations. Assist program staff in the coordination and use of non-monetary donations and government foods.
* Maintain Shelter cleanliness in both residential and office areas. Ensure readiness of rooms for Shelter and Bridge Housing guests.
* Prepare Facility refuse and recyclables for weekly disposal.
* Maintain grounds as seasonally appropriate, including but not limited to sweeping/salting of walkways, raking of leaves, snow removal as necessary.
* Performs routine housekeeping to maintain the cleanliness of the facility.
* Maintain an updated list of vendors ensuring accurate contact information and service details for effective
communication.
* Act as primary point of contact for all vendors used in maintenance and cleaning services.
* Monitor and maintain an inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
* Order necessary supplies proactively to ensure uninterrupted cleaning and maintenance operations.
* Collecting litter and maintaining cleanliness in assigned areas to enhance community aesthetics.
* Participating in environmental cleanup initiatives to promote a sustainable environment.
* Participate in agency safety committee meetings.



RECORD KEEPING:
* Coordinate with the Business Office regarding Facility maintenance records and fixed asset inventories.



ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
* Report supply needs to the Supervisor.
* Monitor the use of consumable program supplies.
* Perform other reasonably requested duties per supervisors or Executive Director.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND JOB SKILLS
A high school diploma or equivalent with experience in general home maintenance, repairs, and general record keeping.
Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen
A valid PA Driver's license, access to a motor vehicle, successful MVR check, and adequate auto insurance
PA Child Abuse History Clearance; PA Criminal Background Check; FBI Criminal Background Check
Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
A willingness to work toward the goals of the agency according to DVSC philosophy and policy.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Required to successfully complete the essential functions of the job.
* Proficiency with MS Office required - MS Outlook, Word, Excel
* Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines
* Ability to learn and use other industry specific software


PHYSICAL DEMANDS typically required to perform the essential functions of this position.
* Ability to lift, push, pull up to 25 lbs regularly, up to 50 lbs occasionally
* Ability to be on your feet and to sit at a desk/computer for extended periods of time
* Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and ramps, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, squat, lift, grasp, speak, hear, and see objects
* Ability to respond quickly to sounds; ability to see and respond to dangerous/crisis situations
