Spark by Hilton is seeking a hands-on, proactive Chief Engineer to lead our property’s maintenance and engineering operations. This key leadership position ensures our hotel remains safe, efficient, and welcoming — from the guest rooms to the rooftop.
As Chief Engineer, you’ll mentor and motivate a skilled maintenance team while maintaining the hotel’s physical plant and collaborating closely with the General Manager to plan for long-term improvements. Major Duties
- Lead, schedule, and train a high-performing maintenance team.
- Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and developing maintenance associates.
- Oversee daily operations of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems.
- Conduct regular property inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and brand compliance.
- Manage maintenance inventory and vendor coordination for timely repairs and projects.
- Maintain accurate records, preventative maintenance logs, and assist with capital project planning.
- Ensure curb appeal and upkeep of exterior areas including landscaping, parking lots, and pool.
- Support hotel operations and guest satisfaction through prompt response to maintenance needs.
- Enforce OSHA, safety, and brand standards; champion a culture of safety and teamwork.
- Be available for after-hours emergency calls as part of a rotating on-call schedule.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of hotel maintenance experience; 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards, safety procedures, and preventive maintenance systems.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass background check.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) required or ability to obtain within 60 days.
Preferred:
- Technical certification or associate degree in a related field.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and capital improvement projects.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, or climb stairs for extended periods.
- Frequent use of ladders and tools requiring fine motor skills.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. independently; up to 140 lbs. with assistance.
- Perform tasks involving kneeling, reaching, bending, and twisting as required.
