Job Title: Engineering Technician
Job Description
The Engineering Technician repairs, troubleshoots, and upgrades high-speed production equipment within a plastics manufacturing environment, with a focus on electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. This role designs and implements control upgrades, supports process and machine improvements, and collaborates closely with the Engineering team to overhaul existing machinery and assist in the design, assembly, installation, and debugging of new or modified equipment.
Responsibilities
- Repair, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical components of high-speed production equipment.
- Upgrade electrical and electronic controls on production equipment, including design, fabrication, installation, and programming of control systems.
- Identify and implement machine improvements as part of ongoing process optimization.
- Review existing processes for approval and initiate process improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Document processes and procedures clearly for maintenance activities and machine operating instructions.
- Overhaul machinery to restore it to original operating condition and ensure stable, long-term performance.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team in the design and development of new equipment or upgrades to existing equipment.
- Assemble, install, and debug machinery built in-house to ensure proper operation and integration into production lines.
- Support production teams by responding to equipment issues on the manufacturing floor and minimizing downtime.
- Use electrical schematics and other technical documentation to diagnose and resolve equipment failures.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of experience troubleshooting electrical equipment in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics.
- Hands-on experience with pneumatic troubleshooting and repair.
- Proven experience working with high-speed production or packaging equipment.
- Experience in plastics manufacturing or similar manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to design, fabricate, install, and program electrical and electronic control upgrades.
- Experience documenting maintenance procedures and machine instructions clearly and accurately.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and operations teams on equipment design and upgrades.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with beauty, personal care, or similar consumer product manufacturing is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to work independently on the production floor while coordinating with cross-functional teams.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Eatontown, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
