Job DescriptionIT Consultant
Location: DMV Area (Local Client Travel)A growing IT services organization is seeking an IT Consultant to support its managed services practice. This role is designed for a highly experienced IT professional who serves as a technical escalation point and leads complex client-facing initiatives across a diverse environment.
Role OverviewIT Consultant provides hands-on technical consulting and advanced IT support for a portfolio of managed services clients. This position operates independently at client sites while collaborating closely with internal teams. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong project ownership, and excellent client-facing skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide on-site and remote technical consulting and advanced IT support for managed services clientsServe as a senior escalation resource for complex technical issues and projectsDiagnose and resolve issues across servers, networks, cloud platforms, and end-user systemsImplement, manage, and troubleshoot IT infrastructure including hardware, software, and network environmentsLead technical projects and guide junior engineers as neededMonitor system performance and ensure reliability, security, and scalabilityCollaborate with internal teams to identify client needs and recommend improvementsMaintain strong client relationships through clear communication and professional service deliveryStay current with emerging technologies and best practices
Technical EnvironmentExperience with many of the following is expected:VMware and Hyper-VMicrosoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and Active DirectoryPowerShell scripting for automation (required)AWS and Azure cloud platformsNetwork security and firewall configurations (experience with Unifi or pfSense a plus)Linux systems administrationMicrosoft Teams Rooms configurationManaged services tools such as PSA, remote support, and documentation platforms
Qualifications10+ years of experience in IT support or systems engineering5 years in leadership roles. Prior experience in a senior, lead, or escalation role strongly preferredManaged Services Provider (MSP) experience a plusBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experienceStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent interpersonal, communication, and time-management skillsAbility to work independently in client environments and manage multiple prioritiesRelevant technical certifications are a plusClean background and driving record; reliable personal transportation requiredWork Environment & TravelHybrid role with remote work when not at client sitesFrequent travel to client locations throughout the DMV areaMileage reimbursement provided
