POSITION SUMMARY
The Automotive and Equipment Technician Manager provides skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of automotive and related equipment. Under general supervision of the Director of Maintenance and Construction and in keeping with company sustainability initiatives, performs work in the diagnostic, overhaul, adjustment, repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Will also complete metal fabrication as needed and perform related work as required. Will be responsible for the full range of automotive maintenance and repair needed to keep all vehicles and equipment in good running condition, including gas, diesel, and electrical engines. They will inspect automotive, and/or equipment to determine necessary corrective action; perform diagnostic tests, fabricate, or modify equipment and various other metal structures. Safety is a major responsibility of this position. Will require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides support for all POA departments. In addition to other duties as assigned, will provide skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of automotive, construction, and related equipment. Responsible for directing and assigning work for employees under their direction. Employees will work under the general direction and supervision of the Automotive and Equipment Technician Manager and are expected to exercise independent judgment as to the method of repair after receiving written or oral instructions concerning the operation and operating condition of a piece of equipment. Work may be inspected or tested by the Automotive and Equipment Technician Manager after the work is completed.
- Checks and performs routine automotive and equipment services.
- Repairs gasoline and diesel engines, air compressors, auxiliary engines, and heavy-duty pumps.
- Repair or rebuild air and hydraulic brake components, drums, discs and cylinders.
- Repairs and replaces Hydraulic hoses.
- Weld parts, sharpen blades and perform other specialty functions on automotive and related equipment.
- Performs welding tasks for automotive maintenance and repair, and welding required for other POA departments.
- Sands and paints equipment and performs minor body refinishing.
- Keep records of work performed in the iWorQ’s work order computer program.
- Performs automobile vehicle inspections.
- Performs monthly fuel reports.
- Inspects Fuel Island tanks & Fuel Pumps.
- Checks and replenishes inventory. Reconciles Inventory monthly with accounting.
- Develops Annual department budgets.
- Performs annual reviews for team members.
- Tract and approve invoicing through Continia.
- Responsible for shop Safety.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Work requires extensive knowledge of automotive shop operations and working around cars, trucks (including older models) and equipment.
- Familiar with the theory and complexities of automotive technology, care and operation of internal combustion engines as well as current repair methods, materials and tools.
- Need to be knowledgeable of applicable state and federal requirements, all aspects of metal fabrication, methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment.
- They must have knowledge of safety precautions in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment.
- Basic computer skills and be able to check Fleet Program and prepare emails.
- Operational knowledge of tire changer, mounting, and balancing.
- Possess Welding skills.
- Work requires continual attention to detail. Must exhibit excellence in Customer Service with all customers.

- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have the ability to maintain and/or obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (within the first 90 days of employment) and a UST Operator Certification Class A/B.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Greater than 100 pounds may require a team lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Specific required movements include the following: trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, and carry, arm’s reach and leg-lifts.
