Job Description:
We are seeking a technically skilled and hands-on Network Specialist to support the backend configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of enterprise telephony systems, including Avaya and Microsoft Teams Voice environments. This role focuses on network-layer support of VoIP systems in a Cisco infrastructure and involves configuration of access layer switches, gateways, SBCs, and physical telecom cabling. The ideal candidate has strong networking knowledge, voice infrastructure experience, and is comfortable working in a secure government setting.

- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Must possess an active TS clearance at the time of application, be willing and able to obtain SCI access, and pass a CI polygraph.
- This position is onsite 5/days a week in Washington D.C.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Network Engineering, Information Systems, Telecommunications, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in network engineering or infrastructure support, with hands-on experience in voice networking.
- Proficiency in Cisco switch configuration, including VLANs, PoE, and access port management.
- Experience configuring and supporting Cisco CUBE, Cisco Voice Gateways, and Cisco ATAs.
- Working knowledge of Oracle SBCs and integration with VoIP systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve VoIP quality issues at Layers 2 and 3.
- Hands-on experience provisioning and supporting Polycom VoIP phones in an enterprise setting.
- Familiarity with MDF/IDF telecom wiring and structured cabling best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict security and configuration protocols
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking credentials
- Experience in secure or classified federal environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams Voice and Avaya platforms.
- Experience documenting network configurations using Visio or similar tools.
Responsibilities:
- Switch Configuration: Configure Cisco access layer switches, including VLANs, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and port settings to support IP telephony deployments.
- Layer 2/3 Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve Layer 2 and Layer 3 issues impacting voice services, including call quality, network segmentation, and traffic flow.
- Telecom Cabling: Perform telecom cabling and wiring in MDFs and IDFs to support physical VoIP infrastructure and connectivity.
- Voice Gateway & SBC Configuration: Configure and troubleshoot Cisco CUBE and Oracle Session Border Controllers (SBCs) for VoIP integration.
- Gateway Support: Configure and maintain Cisco Voice Gateways (e.g., VG410), supporting analog and digital voice connectivity as part of the unified communications environment.
- ATA Configuration: Install and troubleshoot Cisco Analog Telephone Adapters (ATAs) to support legacy analog devices within an IP telephony environment.
- VoIP Phone Provisioning: Provision, deploy, and troubleshoot Polycom VVX 300/400/500 series VoIP phones in coordination with Microsoft Teams or Avaya telephony backends.
- Collaboration & Support: Work closely with telephony engineers, network teams, and IT support to deliver and maintain reliable voice communication services across the enterprise.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of network and telephony configurations, wiring diagrams, and port assignments.
