Job DescriptionWe are looking for a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join a legal team in Stuart, Florida within a medical malpractice and nursing home negligence practice. This contract position offers the opportunity to support case activity from file maintenance through closing while assisting a fast-paced office with critical administrative and legal support. The ideal candidate brings prior experience in a legal environment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage deadlines with accuracy and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
• Support two paralegals with daily case coordination, document handling, and administrative legal tasks.
• Prepare and submit court filings through electronic filing systems while ensuring compliance with procedural requirements.
• Maintain attorney and case calendars by tracking deadlines, hearings, and other important dates.
• Organize, update, and manage legal files to keep case materials accurate, complete, and easy to access.
• Assist with closing case files, including compiling final documentation and confirming all required materials are complete.
• Help coordinate and process lien-related documentation and follow-up activities as part of case resolution.
• Review records and correspondence for completeness and route information to the appropriate team members in a timely manner.
• Provide general office and case support for matters involving medical malpractice and negligence claims.• At least 1 year of experience in a Legal Assistant or similar legal support role.
• Hands-on experience with electronic filing systems and court document submission.
• Ability to manage calendars, deadlines, and multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Familiarity with legal file organization and document management best practices.
• Experience supporting litigation matters related to medical malpractice, negligence, or comparable practice areas is preferred.
• Knowledge of file closing procedures and lien documentation is a strong advantage.
• Strong written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with standard office software and general legal administrative processes.
