Job Description

Job Description

Bradley Professional is currently seeking an experienced Production Supervisor / Scheduler for our client located in Charlotte, NC.

This position requires commercial wood millwork manufacturing experience and is ideal for a hands-on production leader who understands the manufacturing process for custom architectural woodwork, cabinetry, casework, fixtures, and related millwork products.

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor / Scheduler serves as the operational hub of a 46,000-square-foot wood millwork manufacturing facility. This individual will own the day-to-day production schedule, coordinate priorities across departments, and ensure custom millwork projects move efficiently through each stage of production while meeting quality, craftsmanship, and delivery expectations.

This is not an office-based scheduling position. Approximately 80% of the workday will be spent on the production floor, monitoring workflow, supervising production activity, resolving bottlenecks, verifying quality, and ensuring projects remain on schedule.

The remaining time will be spent managing the company's advanced proprietary production scheduling system, updating job status, reviewing upcoming production requirements, and coordinating priorities with Project Management, Engineering, Purchasing, and Shipping.

The successful candidate will understand the complexities of custom wood millwork production and will always have a clear picture of where projects stand, what is coming next, and what issues could potentially impact production or delivery.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the plant-wide production schedule for all wood millwork manufacturing projects.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly production priorities with Project Managers, Engineering, Purchasing, Shipping, and production personnel.
  • Spend approximately 80% of the day on the manufacturing floor actively managing workflow and production priorities.
  • Monitor projects as they move through the various stages of wood millwork fabrication, machining, assembly, finishing, and preparation for shipment.
  • Supervise production work cells and provide direction and support to team leads and production employees.
  • Identify production bottlenecks, material issues, labor constraints, or other potential delays before they impact customer delivery dates.
  • Adjust priorities and reallocate resources as necessary to maintain production flow.
  • Ensure production teams have the drawings, materials, information, and resources necessary to complete scheduled work.
  • Monitor workmanship and verify quality throughout the manufacturing process before products advance to the next operation.
  • Maintain accurate job status and scheduling information within the company's proprietary production system.
  • Lead daily production meetings and clearly communicate priorities, schedule changes, and expectations to shop personnel.
  • Communicate production status and potential scheduling concerns to Project Management and other internal stakeholders.
  • Promote a safe, clean, organized, and efficient manufacturing environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to workflow, productivity, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Help ensure finished products meet company standards as well as applicable AWI quality and craftsmanship expectations.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial WOOD millwork manufacturing experience in a production leadership, supervisory, scheduling, or similar role required.
  • Strong understanding of wood millwork manufacturing processes, preferably involving custom architectural millwork, cabinetry, casework, fixtures, or related products.
  • Experience managing production schedules in a custom or made-to-order manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand production drawings, specifications, and job requirements.
  • Strong understanding of production workflow, labor allocation, scheduling, quality control, and manufacturing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead employees and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable spending the majority of the workday actively engaged on the production floor.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Project Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Shipping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) technical knowledge
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Experience with custom architectural woodwork, commercial cabinetry, casework, fixtures, or high-end custom millwork
  • Experience with computerized production scheduling or ERP/MRP systems
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, project-driven manufacturing environment

What We're Looking For

We are specifically seeking someone who understands WOOD MILLWORK manufacturing.

The ideal candidate isn't simply someone who has scheduled production in a general manufacturing environment. We need a leader who understands how custom wood millwork moves through a shop, can recognize potential production problems, understands the importance of craftsmanship and quality, and can keep multiple custom projects moving toward their required completion dates.

If you have a strong commercial wood millwork background and enjoy being on the production floor leading people, solving problems, and keeping production moving, we want to hear from you.
