Chris Preble from Robert Half is looking for a Controller to lead core accounting and financial oversight for a manufacturing operation in Binghamton, New York. This role has a bonus and really good benefits with opportunity for growth.
This is a hands-on leadership position combining traditional Controller responsibilities with financial planning, analysis and strategic business partnership.
The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation along with the ability to work closely with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and overall business performance. This person will lead a small accounting and finance team while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day work of the department.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the accounting and finance function, including general accounting, financial reporting, AP, AR and related activities
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
- Manage budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
- Analyze financial and operational performance, including profitability, costs, trends and variances
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership
- Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies and financial procedures
- Support cost accounting and manufacturing-related financial analysis
- Partner with operational leaders to improve financial visibility and business performance
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, systems and automation
- Lead, mentor and develop members of the accounting and finance team
- Support external audits and other financial compliance requirements
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as needed
• Proven experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures, financial reporting, and controllership best practices.
• Hands-on expertise in manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory and standard cost analysis.
• Solid understanding of general accounting principles, internal controls, and financial statement preparation.
• Ability to interpret financial results, identify variances, and communicate recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities effectively.
