This role focuses on receiving, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items in a stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. You will help maintain accurate inventory, keep the facility organized and safe, and support efficient movement of goods through the warehouse.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming stock items, verify quantities, and accurately record data manually or using a computer system.
  • Count and reconcile stock by comparing physical inventory to system records, investigating discrepancies and correcting errors as needed.
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves or in designated areas within stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
  • Store items in an orderly, clearly labeled, and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other storage areas.
  • Label stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment to ensure accurate tracking.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and workplace standards.
  • Monitor and document the use, movement, and any damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear, defects, or damage and promptly report any issues to supervisors.
  • Operate a forklift and other material handling equipment safely to move, load, and unload materials as required.
  • Perform warehouse picking tasks to fulfill orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide assistance, guidance, and direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers to support team operations.

Essential Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to follow instructions, document inventory, and coordinate with team members.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to investigate inventory discrepancies and resolve issues quickly.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies that support effective security and protection of people, data, property, and facilities.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Experience with general labor, material handling, packing, unloading, and warehouse picking.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a similar role, such as Material Handler.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in roles such as Material Handler, Forklift Driver, or Warehouse Picker.
  • Familiarity with warehouse inventory systems and basic computer use for data entry and record keeping.
  • Comfort working with labeling tools and equipment, including identification tags, stamps, and electric marking tools.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a warehouse or storage environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse or storage yard environment that includes stockrooms, supply rooms, and tool rooms. You will work primarily on-site, handling physical materials and operating equipment such as forklifts and other stock handling tools. The role involves standing, walking, lifting, packing, and unloading throughout the shift. The scheduled shift is 1st shift, from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The environment requires adherence to safety regulations, proper use of equipment, and maintaining clean, orderly storage areas. Typical warehouse attire and appropriate safety gear are expected, aligned with facility safety standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vonore, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
