Position Summary
The Technical Support Specialist provides technical product and application support to customers, sales teams, engineering, and production. This role supports lighting layouts, IoT lighting control systems, product documentation, and technical troubleshooting. The position requires strong organizational skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to manage multiple projects and technical requests simultaneously.
This is an in-office position that works closely with engineering, sales, and production teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Sales & Customer Technical Support
- Respond to technical and application inquiries from sales representatives, customer service teams, contractors, and customers.
- Provide troubleshooting and technical guidance for lighting fixtures and IoT lighting control systems.
- Recommend project-specific lighting applications and solutions.
- Assist internal teams with photometric layouts and technical project documentation.
- Provide remote technical support to customers and field teams.
IoT Lighting Control Systems
- Develop control Bills of Materials (BOMs) based on project specifications and budgets.
- Interpret project drawings and mark up control layouts using software such as Bluebeam or similar tools.
- Coordinate materials and documentation for pre-commissioning and system preparation.
- Assist with system documentation, wiring diagrams, and technical instructions.
Product & Documentation Support
- Assist with product documentation, certifications, and compliance requirements.
- Review technical information for marketing materials, product specifications, and manuals.
- Assist with product management and product lifecycle documentation.
Production & Engineering Support
- Review and verify Bills of Materials.
- Develop wiring diagrams and work instructions.
- Assist in evaluating mechanical and electrical components.
- Support customer claims, troubleshooting, and product returns (RGA process).
Additional Duties
- Assist with technical documentation and internal systems.
- Perform other technical support or product-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in technical support, technical sales support, project coordination, lighting, electrical, construction, or related technical industry preferred.
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, technical software, and documentation tools.
- Experience with one of these is a plus: Bluebeam, AutoCAD, lighting layouts, or control systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or technical/trade school certification preferred.

- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Frequent use of hands for typing, writing, and operating office equipment.
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds occasionally (product samples, lighting fixtures, boxes).
- Ability to visually review technical drawings, product specifications, and computer screens.
- Occasional movement within warehouse or production areas may be required.
