Make an impact as a dedicated school social worker serving 4th and 5th-grade students in a supportive, collaborative environment. This full-time contract opportunity is ideal for those passionate about fostering positive change through special education, general education support, and innovative interventions.
You’ll focus on a manageable caseload of approximately 15 special education students within a close-knit elementary building of 195 learners. Your expertise will drive both individual support and small group intervention—empowering at-risk students, collaborating on restorative practices, and helping all children reach their fullest potential.
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Social Worker license (LARA)
- Approval for schools practice through the Michigan Department of Education (MDE)
- Prior experience with school social work, ideally in elementary or special education settings
- Strong understanding of restorative practices and evidence-based interventions
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Passion for serving both special education and general population students
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct social work services to a small caseload of special education students
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to create and implement student support plans
- Facilitate small intervention groups for at-risk students, focusing on social-emotional growth and academic success
- Champion restorative practices and help mediate student conflicts where needed
- Maintain diligent records, progress reports, and compliance documentation
- Advocate for student well-being and promote a positive, inclusive school climate
