Job Description

Job DescriptionAbout TorusTorus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 540,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called GigaOne. Our mission is to build the world’s first mesh energy infrastructure — built to unite people and communities through resilient, secure, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid. Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.
At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.
About the RoleThe Principal Integration Platform Engineer operates at the intersection of infrastructure, automation, and application integration. You’ll design and build control pipelines, manage infrastructure as code, and create the systems that allow applications—both third-party and homegrown—to securely publish, consume, and integrate with one another.
This is a hands-on senior role with real architectural influence. You’ll set patterns, raise the bar for reliability and developer experience, and help scale how teams build and connect software.
Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain internal platform services and control planes, including Model Context Protocols (MCPs) that enable AI-driven workflows and integrations.
  • Own infrastructure as code using Terraform, including AWS accounts, networking, IAM, and shared services.
  • Enable applications to publish and consume capabilities across internal and external systems via APIs, events, and automation.
  • Build and maintain integration patterns for homegrown and third-party applications.
  • Manage and improve GitHub repositories, workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Partner with application engineers to abstract complexity and improve developer experience.
  • Establish standards for security, observability, reliability, and scalability across the platform.
  • Troubleshoot complex cross-system issues spanning cloud infrastructure and application boundaries.
  • Influence technical direction and mentor other engineers.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Experience

  • 8+ years of professional engineering experience, including proven success in writing code
  • Deep experience in AWS (IAM, networking, compute, managed services)
  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code best practices
  • Experience building platforms, internal tooling, or integration layers, not just application features
  • Successful, professional experience wiring systems together via APIs, events, and automation.
  • Strong GitHub experience (repo strategy, CI/CD, automation)
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals in at least one general-purpose language
  • Ability to think in systems, abstractions, and long-term maintainability
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Proven experience as a self-driven engineer
  • Experience working with test fixtures and test reports
  • Experience working to timelines and communicating with the team
  • Hands on problem-solver

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related field
  • Experience designing or maintaining internal developer platforms
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures or service meshes
  • Experience working with regulated or security-sensitive environments

You’ll be a great fit if you have a passion for helping to solve complex climate challenges and are committed to finding new innovative ways to preserve and enhance our planet. As a member of a rapidly growing startup with an excitement to learn new technologies, you’ll add incredible value as a self-starter and apply your technical skills to empower our customers to discover, purchase, and install the Torus products that will help them live clean, renewable lives.
