Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Beverage Manager to oversee all beverage operations for an upscale country club and premier event destination. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for managing bars and beverage service throughout dining outlets, golf outings, weddings, corporate events, holiday celebrations, and private functions ranging from intimate gatherings to events exceeding 500 guests.
The ideal candidate is a passionate hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and leads by example. This position requires an active manager who is comfortable working behind the bar during events, managing inventory and ordering, and recruiting and developing a strong team of bartenders and support staff.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all beverage operations across bars, dining rooms, cocktail receptions, banquet spaces, and outdoor venues.
- Manage all liquor, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverage ordering, purchasing, receiving, and inventory control.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and maintain accurate beverage cost controls to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop bartenders, barbacks, and beverage staff.
- Create schedules and manage labor to ensure proper coverage for daily operations and special events.
- Work closely with culinary and event teams to execute weddings, golf outings, holiday parties, social functions, and corporate events.
- Actively work behind the bar and provide support during large-scale events and busy service periods.
- Develop and maintain wine lists, signature cocktails, and seasonal beverage offerings.
- Ensure exceptional member and guest experiences through outstanding service and prompt resolution of concerns.
- Maintain relationships with vendors and distributors while negotiating pricing and ensuring product quality.
- Utilize POS systems such as Micros, Aloha, Toast, or similar platforms for reporting and transactions.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations, sanitation standards, responsible alcohol service practices, and food safety requirements.
- Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented culture while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of beverage or bar management experience in a country club, banquet facility, hotel, upscale restaurant, or high-volume hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of spirits, wines, beers, cocktail preparation, and current beverage trends.
- Proven experience with beverage ordering, inventory management, cost controls, and vendor relations.
- Experience hiring, training, and managing bartenders and bar support staff.
- Comfortable working behind the bar and leading service during high-volume events.
- Experience with weddings, banquets, and private events preferred.
- Familiarity with Micros, Aloha, Toast, or similar POS systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
