Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in San Diego, California. This Contract to permanent position offers the opportunity to work in the dynamic field of commercial property management, contributing to the financial operations of a diverse portfolio. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage both accounts payable and receivable effectively.

Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes for a portfolio of approximately 105 commercial properties, including retail, office space, and industrial.
• Perform CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with lease agreements.
• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
• Handle corporate and sales tax filings, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Utilize AppFolio and Microsoft Excel to manage financial data and reports efficiently.
• Collaborate with property managers and team members to address accounting needs and resolve discrepancies.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely reporting.
• Assist in streamlining accounting workflows and identifying opportunities for process improvements.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to entry-level accounting staff as needed.

• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in commercial property management.

• Proficiency in CAM reconciliations and understanding of lease agreements.

• Familiarity with AppFolio or Yardi software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Strong knowledge of corporate and sales tax regulations.

• Ability to prepare accurate journal entries and maintain general ledger integrity.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.

• Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management abilities.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
