Job DescriptionOverview

Powersports of Modesto is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Service Writer / Service Advisor to serve as the primary point of contact between our customers and service department. This role is critical to delivering a smooth, professional service experience, from initial write-up through repair completion and customer follow-up.

The ideal candidate is organized, personable, and thrives in a fast-paced dealership environment. Powersports experience is a plus, but strong customer service, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple repair orders efficiently are essential. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Communication

  • Greet service customers promptly and professionally, in person and over the phone.

  • Clearly explain recommended services, timelines, and estimates.

  • Communicate effectively with customers throughout the repair process, including updates and approvals.

  • Handle customer questions and concerns with professionalism and care.

Service Write-Ups & Repair Orders

  • Accurately write up repair orders, documenting customer concerns and requested services.

  • Review technician findings and convert them into clear, customer-friendly repair recommendations.

  • Ensure proper authorization is obtained before work is performed.

Coordination with Service Team

  • Work closely with technicians and the service manager to ensure efficient workflow.

  • Schedule service appointments and manage daily workload.

  • Verify parts availability and coordinate with the parts department as needed.

Billing & Documentation

  • Ensure repair orders are properly closed, billed accurately, and documented correctly.

  • Collect payments and explain final invoices to customers.

  • Maintain clean, organized service records.

Process & Quality Control

  • Help maintain service department efficiency and customer satisfaction goals.

  • Follow dealership policies, OEM requirements, and safety procedures.

  • Assist with maintaining a clean, professional service counter and customer area.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Service Writer / Service Advisor preferred (automotive or powersports).

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic understanding of service repair processes and maintenance terminology.

  • Computer proficiency; Lightspeed DMS experience a plus.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

  • Professional appearance and positive attitude.
