Position Summary
\n
\n
We're looking for a Design Engineer to join our team supporting electrical and gas design engineering work for Pepco. This is an career role for someone who wants hands-on exposure to utility distribution design, permitting, and construction documentation, working alongside senior engineers and project leads on real infrastructure projects.

What You'll Do
\n
\n
- \n
- Prepare and revise electrical and gas distribution design drawings under the guidance of senior engineers
- Support field investigations, site walks, and data collection for design packages
- Assist with permit applications and coordination with Pepco standards and specifications
- Review and redline design documents for accuracy and code/standard compliance
- Use CAD and GIS tools to develop and update work orders, staking sheets, and as-built documentation
- Coordinate with internal teams and Pepco representatives to track project status and resolve design questions
- Maintain organized project files and documentation in line with Xcellas360 and Pepco recordkeeping requirements
- Support process improvement initiatives to streamline design and permit workflows

What You Bring
\n
\n
- \n
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience) is preferred. Candidates with a solid foundation in basic physics (specifically electromagnetism and mechanics) are also encouraged to apply.
- 1–2 years of experience in utility design, construction, or a related engineering discipline
- Familiarity with GWD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar 2D and/or 3D CAD software (GWD experience a plus)
- Basic understanding of electrical distribution or gas systems a plus, but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical standards and specifications
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to learn from senior staff
- Valid driver's license for occasional field site visits

- Prior exposure to Pepco, Exelon, or BGE design standards
- Experience with utility permitting processes in DC or Maryland
- Coursework or certification related to electrical/gas utility design
