Custom Software Systems (CSS) Inc. is seeking an accomplished Senior System Engineer with more than ten years of experience managing, maintaining, and securing complex enterprise environments. This role requires deep expertise in enterprise authentication, cloud and on-premise systems, advanced networking, and modern DevOps practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and deploying secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms, while also ensuring the reliability and performance of critical IT infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with internal teams and vendors, lead technology initiatives, and deliver innovative solutions that support mission-driven operations.
Responsibilities

Manage, maintain, and secure enterprise authentication and authorization technologies and enterprise systems.

Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot on-premise hardware and infrastructure.
-
Administer VMWare vSphere/Cloud Foundation and VMWare Aria/VCF Automation/Orchestrator for hybrid workloads.
-
Design, deploy, and migrate secure and maintainable systems across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.

Implement and optimize DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and Kubernetes deployment technologies (Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD).

Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise networking technologies, including:
-
Cisco routed, switched, and wireless networking
-
LAN/WAN architecture and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
-
Data center networking (Cisco Nexus, VXLANs)
-
Network monitoring and management tools (SolarWinds, Cisco Catalyst Center)
-
Support enterprise telephony and collaboration systems, including:
-
Cisco CUCM, Unity, Webex Calling, CUBE, IP handsets, analog gateways
-
Secure telephony solutions (vIPer, TSG phones)
-
Audio/video conference room systems and collaboration platforms (Microsoft Teams, Webex, Zoom)
-
Administer and secure enterprise systems, including Windows Servers, Linux Servers, Hadoop/Cloudera, middleware application servers, and SQL.
-
Utilize programming/scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell) for enterprise systems automation and management.
-
Implement configuration management and automation tools (Ansible, SCCM, Cisco DNA/ACI).
-
Deploy and manage enterprise and data center security solutions, including firewalls, proxy services, and identity-based platforms (Cisco ISE).

Collaborate with teams to design, deploy, and monitor network infrastructure equipment and analysis tools.

Ensure security, performance, and compliance across all enterprise IT systems.
Required Qualifications

At least ten (10) years of demonstrated experience managing, maintaining, and securing;

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Experience working with vendors to acquire licensing, software, hardware and maintenance contracts

Experience deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting on premise hardware.

Experience administering VMWare vSphere/Cloud
-
Experience with Kubernetes technologies (and advanced deployment technologies) such as Helm, Kustomize and ArgoCD.

Configuration Management and Automation tools experience, including but not limited to Ansible, SCCM, and Cisco DNA/ACI.

Experience with the following enterprise networking and communications technologies, including:

DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and related best practices for cloud deployment.

Experienced with Service offerings in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.

Skilled in Foundation and VMWare Aria/VCF Automation and Orchestrator for on-premises workloads.

Experience with enterprise authentication and authorization technologies, such as CentrifyLDAP, Kerberos, SAML, and Active Directory.

Experience with enterprise systems, including:

Middleware application servers

Programming/Scripting languages for enterprise systems management, such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell.
