Job Description

Immigration Associate Attorney (Business & Family-Based)

New York City (On-site)

A nationally respected New York immigration law firm is seeking an Immigration Associate to join its collaborative, intellectually rigorous practice. This is a fully in-office role based in New York City. Relocation is required.

This position is best suited for attorneys with 2–5 years of hands-on immigration experience who value mentorship, strong legal writing, and long-term professional growth.

The Practice

The role offers substantive exposure across a broad immigration platform, including:

  • Business immigration matters such as H-1B, L-1, O-1, PERM, and EB-1
  • Family-based immigration, including adjustment of status, consular processing, naturalization, waivers, and family petitions
  • Limited exposure to humanitarian matters, including asylum, as part of a broader practice
  • Legal research and writing on complex statutory, regulatory, and policy issues
  • Opportunities to assist with federal court matters and advanced legal analysis

The practice emphasizes legal judgment, analytical writing, and ethical decision-making over volume-driven processing. Attorneys are expected to engage deeply with the law rather than rely on templates or narrowly siloed workflows.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Admitted to the New York Bar
  • Approximately 2–5 years of immigration law experience
  • Experience with both business and family-based immigration matters
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage a varied caseload
  • Intellectually curious and motivated to grow as a well-rounded immigration attorney
  • Values professionalism, ethics, and mentorship

Prior exposure matters, but curiosity, judgment, and a desire to develop are essential.

Why This Role

  • Close mentorship from senior attorneys deeply engaged in the law
  • Substantive, hands-on experience across multiple areas of immigration practice
  • A culture that values scholarship, ethics, and careful legal reasoning
  • A long-term growth platform rather than a short-term volume role

Compensation & Benefits

$90,000–$120,000 base salary, plus bonus, health benefits, and 401k, commensurate with experience. Exceptional candidates may be considered above range.

This role is not a fit for attorneys seeking remote work, high-volume processing environments, or near-term partnership guarantees.
