Position Overview


The Audio Department Manager is tasked with overseeing the management of the company's audio inventory. They take responsibility for maintaining the quality control of all audio equipment and ensuring its readiness for deployment onsite, ensuring that all audio systems are well-maintained, configured clearly, and easy to navigate.


Additionally, the Audio Department Manager assesses equipment in need of repairs, determining whether repairs can be conducted internally or if gear needs to be sent out for repairs, coordinating the logistics of the repair solution with the Warehouse Team. They actively engage in continuous research of new equipment releases from vendors, providing advice on the most suitable direction for equipment purchases, and conduct training sessions for staff on both existing and newly acquired equipment.


Collaborating with the Client Services and Project Management teams, the Audio Department Manager contributes to the creation of quotes by advising on the best audio applications and solutions for projects. The Audio Department Manager is responsible for the preparation of equipment in the audio department and addressing any last-minute issues that may arise.


When on show site, the Audio Department Manager manages all audio needs and directs their team in the execution of setup. They also oversee the de-prep of audio equipment as shows return to the warehouse, ensuring that all gear is returned and ready for the next deployment. Managing post-show notes related to the audio department, the Audio Department Manager ensures that all issues are addressed and completed.


Daily and Strategic Responsibilities


Equipment:

  • The management and quality control of all audio equipment in the warehouse.
  • Diagnose equipment functionality and creating repair plans, communicating with the appropriate personnel.
  • Create system design for events as needed.
  • CAD drafting for Audio views as needed.
  • Creating Soundvision for PA deployment.

Onsite:

  • Site visits as requested/ required by Project Management Team
  • Periodically serve as A1 or System Tech on selected events, and lead the audio crew for setup/takedown.
  • Manage show prep and de-prep for all events


Training and Expertise:

  • Provide recommendations on new audio equipment purchases for the company
  • Train the technical staff on currently owned equipment and new equipment in a prompt and consistent manner.
  • Stay informed and educated on what is new in the industry and product updates.

This is a salaried, full-time, in-person position. This position works in an office, a warehouse or a show site environment and involves physically moving heavy equipment with appropriate tools. This position must be able to stand for long periods of time and needs to be able to lift 50lbs with assistance safely. Local travel and occasional driving of company vehicles are required for on-site technical support. Nationwide travel is an opportunity, but not a requirement for this position. The Audio Department Manager reports to the Director of Operations.

Salary range based on experience: $60k-90k
