Job Title: Project Designer

Location: Downtown Minneapolis

Salary: $50K - $80K depending on experience


We are currently partnering with our client who is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Project Designer to join their team. This role is responsible for delivering professional interior design services for commercial environments, with a focus on contract furniture. From site verification to space planning and installation drawings, the Project Designer plays a critical role in ensuring successful project outcomes and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site visits, field measurements, and inventory of existing products to develop accurate as-built drawings.
  • Collaborate with clients, sales teams, and third-party partners to define project scope and workplace needs through programming analysis and client interviews.
  • Create space plans, working drawings, and furniture specifications using industry-standard design tools.
  • Present design concepts and color boards to clients for approval, including live design sessions when necessary.
  • Coordinate closely with order entry and installation teams to ensure specifications are accurate and installation plans are clear.
  • Monitor design hours to ensure project efficiency and profitability.
  • Conduct punch-list walkthroughs and site-to-plan reviews post-installation.

Industry Knowledge & Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of interior design practices, ergonomic principles, and commercial workplace trends.
  • Familiarity with major contract furniture lines and specification tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes, ADA regulations, and the National Electrical Code.
  • Experience working collaboratively with architects, engineers, and client-side IT or facilities teams.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design required
  • 2–3 years of experience in contract furniture design highly preferred
  • Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive with strong attention to detail
