We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Business Development Representative to join our growing team.

Position Summary

The Business Development Representative is responsible for developing new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong customer relationships, and increasing company revenue by promoting the company's services within the oil and gas industry.

This position will actively identify prospective customers and upcoming projects, develop relationships with key decision-makers, pursue new business opportunities, and maintain relationships with existing customers. The Business Development Representative will work closely with Operations and management to ensure customer needs are understood and that the company can successfully deliver the services being offered.

The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, self-motivated, knowledgeable about the oil and gas industry, and comfortable developing business through customer visits, networking, industry events, phone calls, and other relationship-building activities.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the oil and gas industry.
  • Develop relationships with operators, producers, drilling and completion companies, and other potential customers who may utilize company services.
  • Identify and establish relationships with key customer decision-makers, including operations personnel, field supervisors, company representatives, procurement personnel, and management.
  • Generate new customer leads through networking, referrals, industry contacts, customer visits, and market research.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings with prospective and existing customers.
  • Promote the company's services, capabilities, equipment, safety culture, and service areas.
  • Work to have the company added to customer-approved vendor lists and bid lists.
  • Identify upcoming projects and potential work opportunities before services are needed.
  • Follow up consistently on leads, quotes, bids, proposals, and potential projects.
  • Assist management and Operations with preparing pricing, bids, proposals, and service presentations when needed.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with existing customers.
  • Maintain regular contact with customers, even when there is not an immediate project or sales opportunity.
  • Conduct customer visits and follow up after completed jobs to evaluate customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the services provided to existing customers.
  • Serve as a point of contact between customers and the company when appropriate.
  • Communicate customer concerns, service issues, or changing needs to the appropriate company personnel.
  • Assist in resolving customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Promote long-term customer relationships and repeat business.

Operations Coordination

  • Maintain regular communication with Operations regarding potential and upcoming work.
  • Communicate customer expectations, project requirements, anticipated start dates, locations, and special service requirements.
  • Confirm company capabilities and availability with Operations before making commitments to customers.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations to ensure customer expectations are realistic and achievable.
  • Provide management and Operations with information regarding anticipated customer activity and potential workload.

Market & Competitive Awareness

  • Maintain knowledge of oil and gas activity within the company's service areas.
  • Monitor customer activity and identify upcoming drilling, completion, production, workover, construction, maintenance, or other projects applicable to company services.
  • Stay informed about competitors, industry trends, market conditions, and customer needs.
  • Provide management with relevant information regarding competitors, pricing trends, upcoming projects, and potential opportunities.
  • Identify new markets, geographic areas, or service opportunities that may benefit the company.

Business Development Tracking & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of customer contacts, visits, leads, opportunities, bids, and follow-up activities.
  • Maintain and update customer and prospective customer contact information.
  • Track potential opportunities from initial contact through award or loss.
  • Provide management with regular updates regarding business development activity.
  • Track new customers, revenue opportunities, and awarded work.
  • Assist with forecasting potential revenue and upcoming business opportunities.
  • Participate in business development and operations meetings as requested.

Company Representation

  • Represent the company professionally at all times.
  • Attend customer meetings, industry functions, trade shows, networking events, golf tournaments, lunches, dinners, and other business development activities as appropriate.
  • Develop a strong professional network within the oil and gas industry.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company services, capabilities, equipment, safety standards, and service areas.
  • Promote the company's commitment to safety, reliability, customer service, and quality.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in business development, sales, account management, operations, or customer relations preferred.
  • Oil and gas industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Established relationships within the oil and gas industry are a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional customer relationships.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, Operations, management, and customers.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, and customer/contact tracking systems.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the company's service area as needed.
  • Ability to attend occasional customer or industry events outside normal business hours.

Work Environment & Travel

This position requires a combination of office work, field/customer visits, and travel throughout the company's service area. The employee may visit customer offices, field locations, well sites, yards, and other oil and gas facilities.

The position may occasionally require attendance at customer meetings, dinners, networking events, or industry functions outside normal business hours.
