Job Description

Job Title: Construction Superintendent – Commercial & Multifamily

Location: Greater Cleveland / Northeast Ohio (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $70,000 - $100,000 Annually

Company Introduction

This position is with a Cleveland-area general contractor and real estate development firm built by industry veterans with more than 50 years of combined experience in construction, electrical contracting, and real estate development. As a full-service, merit shop general contractor, the company has self-performed and managed more than $300 million in construction work throughout Northeast Ohio, with a growing portfolio of ground-up commercial and multifamily developments. The organization was recently recognized as one of Ohio Business Magazine's 2026 Best Workplaces in Ohio.

The company operates as a lean, hands-on builder rather than a consulting or owner's-rep firm. Team members are given real project ownership, autonomy, and a direct line to leadership as the organization continues to scale across the region. This is a strong fit for a project manager who wants meaningful responsibility and visibility rather than getting lost in a large, bureaucratic organization.

Role Overview

The Superintendent will own day-to-day field operations for commercial and multifamily construction projects from site mobilization through final closeout. This role is responsible for on-site execution, directing trades and self-perform crews, holding the schedule, and maintaining a safe, productive, and well-organized job site.

The Superintendent will work closely with project management to keep field execution aligned with the project schedule, budget, and plans, running work that ranges from office and retail build-outs to ground-up multifamily developments. Ground-up projects require hands-on familiarity with site work and full construction sequencing from the ground up.

Ideal candidates are field leaders who can run a job site independently, hold subcontractors accountable, and consistently deliver projects on time and to standard.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage all on-site field operations from mobilization through final closeout
  • Direct and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and self-perform crews daily
  • Run projects across office build-outs, retail build-outs, and ground-up multifamily
  • Oversee site work and ground-up sequencing on new construction projects
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce the project schedule and look-ahead planning
  • Enforce job-site safety, quality control, and code compliance at all times
  • Coordinate inspections, material deliveries, and trade sequencing to keep work on track
  • Partner with the Project Manager to align field execution with budget and project plans
  • Maintain daily logs, track progress, and report on schedule and field issues
  • Drive punch list, closeout, and turnover activities

Required Background

  • Minimum of 5 years of construction field experience, including time as a Superintendent or a strong Assistant/Lead Superintendent ready to step up
  • Hands-on experience running commercial work, including office and retail build-outs or tenant improvements
  • Ground-up construction experience, including site work, strongly preferred
  • Ground-up multifamily project experience is a strong plus
  • Comfortable managing projects ranging from a few hundred thousand up to $30M
  • Ability to build from plans, manage trades, and hold cost and schedule on-site
  • Strong communication skills and confidence directing subcontractors in the field
  • Ability to work on-site across the Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio market

Compensation & Perks

  • Base salary range of $70,000 to $100,000 depending on experience
  • Potential project-based performance bonus
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off including vacation, personal days, and holidays
  • Stable local project work with no extensive travel
  • Lean team environment with high autonomy and visibility
  • Long-term growth opportunities as the organization expands
