Our client is seeking an experienced Defense Litigation Paralegal to join their law firm in Columbia, South Carolina. Matters will be heavy in corporate defense litigation. This role focuses on supporting attorneys in corporate defense litigation, insurance defense, and jury trial preparation.
• Draft, review, and organize legal documents such as pleadings, discovery materials, and motions.
• Maintain and manage case files, calendars, and court deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Assist in deposition and trial preparation, including coordinating witnesses, preparing exhibits, and organizing trial materials.
• Conduct thorough legal research and compile clear and concise summaries of findings.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
• Collaborate closely with attorneys to ensure all litigation tasks are completed efficiently.
• Provide support during jury trials, including handling trial logistics and documentation.
• Monitor case progress and ensure all deadlines are met.
• Use case management software to track and organize case information.
• Contribute to insurance defense litigation strategies and document preparation.
• 5+ years of experience as a Paralegal in civil litigation or defense litigation.
• Proficiency in drafting legal documents and managing discovery processes.
• Strong organizational skills to handle complex case files and meet deadlines.
• Experience with trial preparation and jury trials.
• Familiarity with case management software and legal research tools.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
• Ability to conduct detailed legal research and present findings effectively.
• Knowledge of insurance defense litigation practices and procedures.
