Job Summary
We are looking for a Lube/General Service Automotive Technician to join our successful automotive service center.

As a Lube/General Service Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for servicing and performing minor repairs on automotive vehicles. You must be comfortable using the service center computer software and have some knowledge of vehicle systems.

If you have a never give up attitude and are willing to problem-solve until you find the best solution for the customer, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with establishing service center procedures for tracking repair status, maintaining technical documentation, and other necessary protocols
  • Carry out routine vehicle maintenance tasks such as tire rotations, oil changes, and brake pad replacements
  • Conduct a digital vehicle inspection of vehicle
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Convey necessary vehicle repair information to customers in a clear and concise manner
  • Prior to any service, note and take pictures of vehicle making note of any issues/damages.
  • Prior to any repair, assure that the vehicle is protected from any residue with available supplies.
  • Performs maintenance inspection on customer vehicles and completes notes or digital inspections.
  • Complete notes and pictures on all items needing attention.
  • Communicates inspection findings to service writer.
  • Performs oil change to manufacturers specifications.
  • Double and triple check drain plugs and oil filters.
  • Assure waiting oil changes are handled ASAP
  • Apply sticker to customer vehicle for next service.
  • Assist in retrieving mail from mailbox.
  • Empty trash in office, shop, and lobby at the end of the day.
  • Clean shop, sweep, maintain (organize) shelves and supplies in shop area.
  • Clean shop bathroom when needed.
  • Change marquee sign when needed.
  • Stock mini fridge in lobby with water when needed.
  • Empty ashtray in front of shop when needed.
  • Keep outside of shop area neat, keep outside organized (scrap tires, junk metal, garbage)
  • Fill necessary fluid containers for shop area and organize/clean.
  • Make sure forklift is stored properly.
  • Check all vehicles outside for locked doors and closed windows.
  • Assure that any vehicles are moved inside if required for the night.
  • Perform all alignments to manufactures and equipment specifications.
  • If certified, perform all emissions inspections to state requirements.
  • Identifies and inflates tires correctly for the size and specs.
  • Unbolt wheels from vehicles and remove them.
  • Locate punctures in tires.
  • Seal punctures in tires by inserting adhesive material and expanding rubber plugs into punctures.
  • Inspect tire casings for defects.
  • Replace valve stems and removes puncturing objects.
  • Reassemble tires onto wheels.
  • Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels.
  • Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels.
  • Remount wheels onto vehicles.
  • Rotate tires to different positions on vehicles.
  • Assist techs / service writers / office, when needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • 2-3 years of experience as a general service technician
  • Emissions certified preferred
  • Experienced Alignment experience preferred
  • Strong customer service and communications skills are required
  • Time management
  • Judgment and decision making
  • Clean driving record
