What will you do as a PMC Pathology Quality Assurance Coordinator
As a PMC Quality Assurance Coordinator, you will be a technical expert who leads and coordinates quality assurance efforts across our Pathology operations. You’ll play a key role in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, COLA, OSHA etc.), driving continuous improvement and supporting operational excellence. Oversee and maintain PMCs Pathology and Laboratory Operations in cooperation with Pathologist(s), Director of Laboratory, PMC Compliance manager, and all testing personnel. Responsible for quality assurance and compliance documentation and processes.
A day in the life of a PMC Pathology Quality Assurance Coordinator may include:
- Communicates a shared vision to reach current and future goals.
- Promotes a culture of quality and creates an environment for ongoing learning and development.
- Provides and ensures training for quality policies and procedures.
- Serves as a liaison between external regulatory agencies and laboratories.
- Facilitates process improvement activities.
- Monitors and interprets outcomes of root cause analysis, corrective action and effectiveness checks
- Maintains a contemporary knowledge of current industry trends, standards and methodologies.
- Formulates responses to accreditation and regulatory citations, nonconforming events and complaints.
- Provides guidance for laboratories in implementing policies with respect to regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Collects summary data for management reports: quality indicators, audit outcomes and complaints.
- Presents data to leadership as needed.
- Audits laboratories to identify quality issues, nonconformities and opportunities for improvement.
- Provides support as needed when staffing is low for grossing, embedding, sectioning and slide staining/cover-slipping.
- Maintains appropriate records (QC, specimen, instrument maintenance, proficiency testing, incident management, etc.) as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Previous experience of 5 years in anatomic pathology laboratory or department is required.
Background as a histotechnician is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have Baccalaureate degree in a related field and completion of Certificate as Medical Laboratory Scientist, Technician or Histotechnician. Also acceptable is an Associate degree in a related field with required experience and as Medical Laboratory Technician or Histotechnician.
Skills in grossing biopsy specimens and performing immunohistochemical and special stains is highly desirable.
Experience with regulatory and accreditation compliance is preferred.
