Salary: $43,180- $53,975 (Depending on Experience)


GENERAL PURPOSE

The Aquatics Maintenance employee will perform a variety of repair, maintenance, installation, and related services involving aquatic and facilities maintenance including pools, splash pads, and water features, as well as all city owned buildings and facilities.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager.

SUPERVISION EXERCISEDProvides direct to general supervision of part-time Maintenance staff as assigned by the Maintenance Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for year round system maintenance/repair, pump maintenance, water chemistry testing, system adjustments, chemical handling, record keeping, and water quality testing/treatment, UV repair and maintenance, backwashing all systems, and overseeing maintenance week at the community center.


Assist in the mechanical operations and maintenance of the Washington City Community Center pools, City splash pads, and City water features, as well as routine maintenance tasks involving city owned equipment. Operating pool equipment as directed, assist in the operation and maintenance of chemical feeder systems, ensure proper water safety procedures and OSHA regulations, including MSDS, confined space, lockout/tagout procedures and respiratory protection, monitor mechanical apparatus such as motors, belts, pulleys etc. to assure proper operation as directed also perform other duties as required.


Applicant will maintain health and safety standards, keep work areas, safe and organized, inform supervisor of any vandalism, incidents, inspection problems, and other safety issues, complete necessary written reports to document maintenance, vandalism, incidents, inspections, and other work activity, follow work plans, priorities and schedule and lead part-time staff in the performance of operational duties as necessary.

Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION 1. Education and Experience:

A. Graduation from high school, plus two (2) years of specialized training in maintaining a public/commercial swimming pool and have a good knowledge of the use and handling of a variety of tools equipment and hazardous materials/chemicals


OR

B. An equivalent combination of education and experience.


  1. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Working knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of community aquatics and maintenance. Knowledge of methods and techniques in handling hazardous materials; have the ability to safely operate motor vehicles and equipment; working knowledge of the operation of personal computers and various software applications including spreadsheets, word processing, etc.


  1. Special Qualifications:


Must possess or be able to obtain within 6 months a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification.


First Aid and CPR certification and Defensive Driving must be obtained within 6-months of employment.


Must possess a valid driver's license.


  1. Work Environment:


Incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting Tasks require a variety of physical activities, not generally involving muscular strain related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, etc. Communicating, i.e. talking, hearing, and seeing, is essential to job effectiveness. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and creative problem solving. Periodic travel required in normal course of job performance.
