Field Engineer/Computer Technician
Location: 10B Madison Avenue Extension, Albany, NY 12203 (Onsite)
Schedule: Mondays to Fridays - 8AM to 5PM (With occasional OT)
Payrate: $24.29/Hr
Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Field Engineer / Computer Technician to support laptop and desktop break-fix services throughout the Menands, NY metro area. This role involves traveling to customer locations to diagnose, repair, and replace computer hardware components while providing excellent technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform break-fix repair services for laptops and desktop computers
- Replace hardware components including hard drives, motherboards, keyboards, and peripherals
- Complete whole unit swaps and basic hardware installations
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic hardware and software issues
- Update and close service tickets in real time using a company-provided mobile device
- Follow company procedures, service standards, and customer support guidelines
- Travel to customer sites throughout the metro and surrounding areas
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on laptop and desktop repair experience
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and Microsoft applications
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve non-complex technical issues
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently in a field environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Computer building or PC assembly experience
- Experience replacing laptop and desktop hardware components
Must-Have Requirements
- Must have a reliable personal vehicle
- Must maintain valid car insurance
- Comfortable traveling locally throughout the assigned service area
Additional Requirements
- Background check and/or government clearance may be required
- Police/criminal background verification may be required
Work Environment
- Fast-paced field support environment
- Daily travel between customer locations
- Onsite support role with hands-on technical work
