We are looking for a Senior Platform and DevOps Engineer build the tools and processes to enable and support our software development, spacecraft assembly, integration, and test teams, and ground system engineers.

What you will do:

This role will support the entire development lifecycle in an exciting and dynamic environment where firmware, software, test hardware, and flight components – with blended cloud and on-premise elements – are evolving daily. Your work will enable safe, reliable, and efficient development and deployment of development artifacts with provenance and reproducibility.

Infrastructure

  • Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure to support ground segment and spacecraft development, simulation, and test

  • Rigorously manage environments using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/OpenTofu)

  • Ensure reliability and cost management using monitoring, alerting, and logging tools

CI/CD and Automation

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enable automated build and test of flight, ground, and test code and firmware (Board support packages, microcontroller code, FPGA)

  • Implement automated release strategies including blue/green and canary deployment strategies – both in spacecraft flight software domain and in ground segment environments

  • Manage build artifacts and versioning to ensure every build configuration is traceable and reproducible

Platform Engineering

  • Build internal tools, APIs, and self-service capabilities that empower software teams to deploy and monitor their work products independently

  • Manage and scale developer and test platforms to allow seamless cloud and on-premise deployments

  • Work with security and compliance Director to ensure we meet customer and export-control security requirements

Leadership

  • Although this is initially an individual contributor role, it’s possible more support will be needed as the program progresses. Bonus points if you are comfortable with and interested in coordinating and working with a small team of either contractors or employees

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical field

  • 6-8 years of relevant experience supporting fast moving software development teams by creating mixed cloud and hardware CI/CD pipelines using such tools as:

  • AWS cloud services

  • Terraform/OpenTofu IAC

  • Gitlab runners

  • Docker containers

  • Kubernetes

  • Service mesh management tools

  • Experience with aerospace development and spacecraft development and AIT environments highly preferred

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $150,000-$180,000 per year, depending on previous experience. Pay ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.

This onsite role will be located in Louisville, CO.
