Summary

Manages and coordinates the legal affairs pertaining to company’s subsidiaries in the region including but not limited to labor issues, implementation of corporate policies, and export and import regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides legal counsel on the international organization structure and the creation of new offices and stores, foreign acquisitions, divestitures, and all cross-border financing transactions.
  • Prepares and reviews contracts to ensure compliance with international laws for all aspects of the company’s operations.
  • Leads negotiations of legal contracts regarding all international operations.
  • Provides leadership and direction with regard to engaging international law firms.
  • Supervises any international litigation matters.
  • Supervises all trademark license arrangements offshore.
  • Ensures compliance with legal, contractual, and risk management policies to minimize and limit corporate liability, manage risk, and optimize value of contracts.
  • Recommends alternative actions as required to conform with corporate policies and strategies.
  • Coordinates with and oversees the work of outside counsel.
  • Provides information and advice on international labor and employment law issues.
  • Oversees compliance with applicable statues and regulations, reviews pertinent laws and regulations, and provides legal advice to all company departments and staff.
  • Possesses and maintains thorough, current knowledge of international laws.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution and be licensed to practice law in the state.
  • Two to four years related experience or equivalent; employment law experience preferred.
