About the Role:
The Cashier plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience for customers, directly impacting overall customer satisfaction and store performance. This position requires handling cash transactions accurately, operating the cash register and point of sale systems, and providing friendly and professional customer service. The role also involves maintaining cleanliness and organization in the checkout area, including performing janitorial duties as needed. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet the dynamic needs of the business, including working various shifts and weekends. Ultimately, the Cashier contributes to a positive shopping environment by managing transactions efficiently and addressing customer inquiries with professionalism.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in cashiering or customer service roles.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions and stand for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds safely.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with point of sale (POS) systems and cash register operations.
- Strong communication skills and phone etiquette.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Familiarity with janitorial duties and maintaining a clean workspace.

Responsibilities:
- Operate cash registers and point of sale systems to process customer purchases accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash, credit, and other forms of payment while ensuring proper change is given and transactions are recorded correctly.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving any issues or concerns promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area, including performing light janitorial duties such as sweeping and restocking supplies.
- Assist with lifting and carrying heavy items when necessary to support store operations and customer needs.
- Adhere to phone etiquette when answering calls related to customer inquiries or store information.
- Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate store hours and peak times.
