Role summary
Lead our lawn care program by managing fertilization and pest-control treatments, growing the client base, and ensuring exceptional service delivery. This role combines field expertise, client-facing sales and relationship work, scheduling and CRM management, and hands-on supervision of one technician. The ideal candidate is a licensed or license-ready pesticide applicator, a proven supervisor, and a self-starting leader driven to grow revenue and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
- Treatment Management: Plan, schedule, and oversee lawn fertilization and treatment programs to meet agronomic best practices and client expectations.
- Client Acquisition: Identify and convert new lawn care clients through door-to-door outreach, referrals, upsells, and local marketing support.
- Scheduling and Dispatch: Create and manage service schedules; coordinate routes and technician assignments for timely service delivery.
- Client Communication: Perform follow-up calls and emails, confirm appointments, handle service questions, and maintain high client retention.
- Quality Assurance: Spot-check lawns after treatments, perform visual inspections, and document issues or corrective actions.
- Soil Testing: Collect soil samples, interpret basic soil test results, and recommend corrective programs or amendments.
- CRM Management: Maintain accurate client records, treatment histories, notes, and follow-ups in the company CRM.
- Supervision: Coach, train, and supervise one direct report; conduct performance checks and provide on-the-job guidance.
- Compliance: Ensure all treatments comply with label instructions, local regulations, and company safety protocols.
- Reporting: Provide regular field reports, treatment logs, and client feedback to management.
Required qualifications
- Pesticide Applicator License or willingness to sit for the licensing exam immediately upon hire.
- Previous supervisory experience with at least one direct report.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on lawn care or turf management experience.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work outdoors in variable weather, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Preferred skills and attributes
- Sales aptitude with a track record of gaining new clients or growing accounts.
- CRM experience (e.g., ServiceMinder, Jobber, ServiceTitan, or similar).
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Leadership qualities: self-starter, accountable, coachable, and able to motivate a small team.
- Problem solving: able to diagnose turf issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Basic knowledge of soil science, turfgrass species, and integrated pest management.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable with route planning and time management.
Working conditions and compensation
- Schedule: Full-time; seasonal workload may vary; occasional weekends during peak season.
