Job Description
Position Summary
Individual contributor position responsible for executing the technical design process from development to final fit.
Responsible for analyzing and evaluating garments to develop the correct fit specifications. Ensures that products are developed in a manner consistent with established fit quality standards, manufacturer capabilities, and cost specifications.
Develops technical specifications and communicates fit requirements to vendors/factories for approvals and corrections. Makes appropriate adjustments with factories as required to ensure integrity of design-approved prototypes while monitoring quality and targeted price.
Typically reports to a Technical Services Manager. May direct Assistant or Associate Technical Designers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in Technical Design
- Strong pattern making background
- Experience with knits and wovens
- PLM experience (Centric preferred)
- Ability to conduct fittings independently
- Ability to write fit comments and pattern corrections
- Fast and efficient worker
- Plus-size experience
- Experience working with vendors/factories
- Excel and Illustrator proficiency
- Flex PLM experience preferred
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Technical Designer with 5–10 years of experience
- Experience in casual sleep/sleepwear
- Strong technical design career progression (not someone who only briefly worked in technical design)
- Individual contributor mindset
- Comfortable reporting to a manager
- Able to own a category and conduct fittings independently
- Not a people manager or candidate who has managed large teams
- Open to continued development under leadership and training
