Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Resource Teacher in a vibrant school community near Bellevue, MI. Two positions are available, serving either Elementary or Middle School resource classrooms. Candidates are encouraged to specify their preferred age group—elementary (caseload: 10 students) or middle school (caseload: 11 students)—to ensure their strengths and interests align with the assignment.
These roles span both East Leroy Elementary and Athens High School, with respective hours from 7:55 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. and 7:35 a.m. to 2:40 p.m., totaling 35 hours per week. Start as soon as possible and continue making a difference through June 10, 2027 (dates tentative).
Key Qualifications:
- Current and active Michigan Special Education Teacher License (MI SPED); submit a screenshot or copy with your application
- Experience in resource classroom environments, serving students with varied learning needs
- Adaptability to work with either elementary or middle school age groups
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Dedication to fostering individualized growth for students on your caseload
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction and support within a resource setting for students with learning differences
- Develop, implement, and update IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Track and report on student progress
- Create a positive, inclusive, and structured environment conducive to learning
- Engage with families and staff to maximize student success
