Job Title: Database Administrator
Location: San Juan, PR 00936
Duration: 12 Months
Anticipated Start Date: ASAP

Job Type: Contract
Pay Range: $38-$41/hr
(Please note that actual compensation may vary within this range due to factors such as location, experience, and job responsibilities, and does not encompass additional non-standard compensation (e.g., benefits, paid time off, per diem, etc.).
Work Schedule:
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. AST (Monday–Friday)
On Call: Participation in weekend on-call rotations as required.
Work Model: Hybrid (1–2 days onsite) per week based on business needs.
Training: 2–4 week onboarding covering internal systems, production environments, backups, DR processes, and operational toolsets.
Job Description:
Responsible for developing detailed logical data designs and metadata content. Works on more complex database design, development and support activities. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Creates and populates metadata and plans and participates in unit testing for data validation. Evaluates test results for fulfillment of all data requirements. Develop conceptual or general designs, including logical design of databases, access methods, metadata presentation, etc. Details all aspects of functional designs, including record layouts, pseudo-code, detailed data mapping, etc. Productionalizes data-related project components and institute all required changes. Provides ongoing support of business, including ongoing data analysis, data quality testing, enhancement of metadata, etc. Reviews SQL code and provides turning suggestions. Provides DBMS technical configuration and troubleshooting. Provides user management and DBMS security support. 24x7 production and non-production DBA on-call support. Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 3 years of information systems experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Experience in utilizing DBMS system management tools and the ability to implement new DBMS features and functionality strongly preferred.
In the interim I'll provide some info on the role: The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in database administration combined with analytical skills, troubleshooting discipline, and a proactive mindset.
Core Skills & Experience:
5+ years of professional experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
SQL Server Administration: installation, configuration, patching, backups, clustering/HA, and performance tuning.
Typical Day in the Role & Expectations:
Manage and monitor SQL Server and DB2 environments for performance, health, and stability.
Perform backup/restore operations, validate job success, and support DR readiness activities.
Execute database deployments, upgrades, and patching within change management policies.
Support Development & DevOps teams with troubleshooting ETL processes, stored procedures, and webpage or API data issues.
Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
Develop automation scripts to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
Support on-call rotations for production incidents affecting databases or dependent applications.
Language Requirement:
The candidate must be fluent in Spanish (spoken and written) to effectively collaborate with business, development, and operations teams in Puerto Rico.
