We are looking for an experienced Field Service Technician to support installation and service operations across multiple sites in the DC area. This role involves working with a wide range of security technologies including access control systems and surveillance cameras. The ideal candidate has a strong background in low-voltage cabling, system integration, and troubleshooting in commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and configure electronic security systems including access control, CCTV, and related infrastructure
- Diagnose and repair issues with security equipment, cabling, and system programming
- Terminate and test cabling such as Cat5e, Cat6, and coaxial in compliance with industry standards
- Work with analog, IP-based, DVR, NVR, and hybrid surveillance systems
- Understand access control principles and install door hardware (maglocks, strikes, readers, etc.)
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation, including floorplans, credentials, and network details
- Interpret technical drawings and building plans to support proper system installation and service
- Conduct signal testing and verification to ensure proper system functionality
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients on-site
- Collaborate with internal teams including project managers, technicians, and supervisors
- Participate in rotating on-call schedules and be available for after-hours service requests
- Operate lifts, ladders, and other equipment safely and in accordance with OSHA standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in installing and servicing commercial security systems
- Proficient in low-voltage wiring and circuit theory related to security devices
- Working knowledge of computer networking fundamentals
- Experience with cable types including Cat5e, Cat6, and coaxial
- Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work at heights using ladders or lifts
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
