Position Overview: The Cybersecurity Engineer provides specialized technical expertise in the integration, design, and implementation of cybersecurity solutions for complex information systems. This role involves applying analytical and systematic approaches to address cybersecurity requirements, resolve total system and technology problems, and ensure systems are designed, developed, and integrated with security as a foundational element. The Cybersecurity Engineer supports all phases of the system lifecycle—from planning and design to testing, demonstration, and integration—while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform system security engineering for information systems, ensuring compliance with DoD and program-specific cybersecurity requirements.
- Analyze and translate cybersecurity requirements into secure system architectures, designs, and implementations.
- Apply systematic problem-solving methodologies to address workflow, organizational, and planning challenges within cybersecurity projects.
- Provide engineering support for system planning, design, development, integration, and testing with a focus on secure operations.
- Develop and recommend security controls and countermeasures to mitigate identified risks and vulnerabilities.
- Support integration of cybersecurity into electronic processes, methodologies, and system workflows.
- Collaborate with project teams, stakeholders, and government representatives to ensure cybersecurity requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of security tools, processes, and procedures in accordance with DoD 8570/8140 guidelines.
- Contribute to technical documentation, system security plans, and certification and accreditation (C&A) activities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Certifications:
- DoD 8570 IAT Level III baseline certification (e.g., CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH).
- Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant IT experience.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity regulations, policies, and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in secure system design, integration, and engineering methodologies.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical and security-related problems.
- Experience with security risk management, vulnerability mitigation, and cybersecurity tool implementation.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience working on DoD or other federal cybersecurity programs.
- Knowledge of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and related compliance frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability assessment tools, system hardening, and secure configuration management.

- Must hold an active TOP secret clearance
