Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to help maintain and evolve our hybrid infrastructure. This role blends traditional on-premises engineering (server, storage, virtualization, etc.) with modern cloud engineering across M365/Azure and similar platforms. The ideal candidate brings meaningful hands‑on experience, sound judgment, and the ability to both teach and collaborate with the team as we continue our carefully deliberate migration to the cloud.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain on‑premises server, storage, and virtualization environments (VMware/Hyper‑V, SAN/NAS, switching, backup/recovery).
• Lead or support cloud or hypervisor migration initiatives across Azure and AWS, including re‑hosting, modernization, and hybrid connectivity.
• Administer Azure AD, Entra, M365, IAM, and cloud security configurations in addition to on-prem AD.
• Maintain and improve monitoring, patching, logging, and automation across infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot advanced system, storage, identity, and network issues.
• Partner with internal IT, security, and application teams to ensure reliability and performance.
• Provide mentorship, knowledge‑sharing, and cross‑training to the broader IT team via collaboration & well written documentation.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of IT infrastructure engineering experience (or equivalent background).
• Deep understanding of servers, virtualization, SAN/NAS storage, networking fundamentals, and enterprise backup systems.
• Hands‑on experience designing or executing VMWare to Azure/AWS/Other migrations.
• Strong knowledge of identity systems (AD, Azure AD/Entra), PowerShell, scripting, and automation.
• Experience in SMB/MSP consulting environments strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
• VMware, Hyper‑V, Microsoft 365, Azure networking, AWS EC2/S3/IAM.
• Basic understanding of KPI, Cyber Security, Networking, and Agile terminology.
• Familiarity with ITIL or structured change management.
