This contract opportunity is ideal for a dedicated school social worker passionate about fostering students’ academic, social, and emotional growth. You’ll support approximately 40 students across two elementary schools and a preschool classroom, collaborating with educators and families to nurture positive, inclusive learning environments.

Key Qualifications:

Approval as a School Social Worker by the Michigan Department of Education
Experience providing social work services in school settings, especially with elementary-aged children
Strong knowledge of social-emotional development, crisis intervention, and collaborative problem-solving
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and families from diverse backgrounds
Commitment to maintaining student confidentiality and adhering to ethical school social work standards
Availability for onsite work during the contract period (8/24/2026 – 5/14/2027), 37.5 hours per week

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver direct and consultative social work services to address students’ academic, social, and emotional challenges
Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Conduct assessments to identify student needs and recommend supportive interventions
Facilitate small groups and classroom presentations on social skills and conflict resolution
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to coordinate services and monitor student progress
Maintain comprehensive case notes and documentation per school and legal requirements
Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and professional development
