Salary: $65,000 (or higher based on experience)

Atherton Galardi (www.athertonlg.com) is an established South Florida business litigation boutique seeking a motivated legal assistant who wants to assist our lawyers with interesting, high-stakes business litigation cases. We represent public companies, private equity groups, and closely held businesses in corporate governance disputes, M&A litigation, business torts, executive compensation and restrictive covenant claims, and class actions. We also represent large law firms in legal malpractice cases, and we defend national and regional news media clients in defamation and public access cases.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented full-time Legal Assistant to join our dynamic litigation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in state and federal court litigation, and thrive in a collaborative, team environment. This role involves managing case deadlines and attorney calendars, helping facilitate the progress of cases, and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the practice for the benefit of its clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calendaring state and federal court deadlines
- Preparing basic notices, filings, and correspondence
- Proofreading letters, motions, discovery, and pleadings
- E-filing in state and federal courts
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, vendors (such as court reporters, process servers, and e-discovery providers)
- Communicating with court personnel in a professional and courteous manner
- Scheduling and preparing for hearings, depositions, mediations, and meetings
- Pulling and organizing cases from Westlaw
- Conducting internet research
- Maintaining organized and accurate case files, both physical and electronic
- Preserving confidentiality, sensitivity and discretion when handling client matters
- Assisting with administrative tasks
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal assistant in Florida
- Familiarity with state and federal court rules
- Proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Proficiency with court e-filing systems
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, processes, and court rules/procedures
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
